What’s Changing?

  • Optus D2 is being retired earlier than expected. Commercial operations are ending in May 2025, forcing services to shift to other satellites.

  • Optus 11, the replacement satellite, is delayed until at least 2027. That means updates and reconfiguration are critical right now to keep services running smoothly.

  • Customers are already reporting intermittent signal issues across Australia and New Zealand.

The bottom line: if your Satking unit isn’t updated, your service may stop working properly.

Which Satking Units Need Updating?

Two popular units used by campers and caravanners are directly affected:

1. Satking Promax / Promax Plus

  • All 2016–2025 LCD models are still supported.

  • Updates are provided via USB.

  • Without the latest firmware, your unit may not be able to lock onto the correct frequencies.

2. Satking Orbit

  • A critical update was released on 1 September 2025.

  • This update reflects changes as Optus shifted from D3 to Optus 10, including five D3 transponders that were shut down.

  • Without this update, your Orbit will no longer find the correct channels.

How To Update Your Satking Receiver

  1. Download the update file from the official Satking support page (links above).

  2. Copy the file onto a USB stick (make sure it’s formatted FAT32).

  3. Insert the USB stick into your Satking receiver.

  4. From the menu, go to System Settings > Software Update.

  5. Select the update file and follow the prompts.

  6. Once the update is complete, restart your receiver.
